Patients are either directly enrolled to this level or more commonly graduate from the Intensive Inpatient Program when they are ready to make the transition back to their daily lives. Increased independence is the major difference in this program. The general treatment structure does not change. Here, patients may begin part-time work or attend school while remaining connected to the treatment process. They also receive more frequent passes to go back to their home environments. This allows the individual to identify some of the potential problems that may hinder lasting recovery. When they return to Montecatini, they can work through these problems with the staff, ultimately facilitating their transition to normal and productive lives.
