Admission to the Intensive Care Program is based on the
recommendations reached during the multidisciplinary meeting.
This program is designed to disrupt the dysfunctional patterns
of individuals with eating disorders. The majority of our
residents have had their eating disorders for many years.
Many have been in and out multiple eating disorder treatment
programs without recovery.
A maximum of six residents are enrolled in this program at a
given time. Residents are coupled in pairs from the time of
admission. This "buddy system" serves to monitor and prevent
continuation of any eating disorder related behavior, such as
purging.
Since 1991, we have successfully treated hundreds of women with
severe an eating disorder and have become recognized nationally
for providing care at this level. The key to our success is
having a staff that is highly experienced in treating women with
eating disorders; an intensive, structured, and dynamic program;
and a high staff-to-resident ratio, which allows us to deliver
the personalized care necessary.
